Animals still thriving in the Chornobyl exclusion zone
#1
In April 1986 Chornobyl was the site of one of the worst nuclear disasters. A lot of human and animal life was lost and plants life as well.
A large area was set aside as the exclusion zone because of the levels of radiation. It has been almost 40 years.
Wildlife has continued to live there and it has been thriving.
Continued studies show that species are still doing well.
The tree frogs studied have shown changes, particularly in their color, but they are healthy.

This is continued good news for the animals of Chornobyl.
They have survived in an area where the radiation was dangerous. As the radiation levels decline it should be even safer for them.
Hopefully the exclusion zone is continued. The continued absence of humans in the area benefits wildlife.
It seems we are more dangerous to wildlife than a nuclear explosion.
