A customs check has saved a 5 month old Western Lowland Gorilla. The little Gorilla was found inside a wooden box.
He is being cared for by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks. He will be closely watched until he recovers and is stronger.
The loss of a young gorilla like this would be a real blow to survival of his species. They are so endangered.
Wildlife trafficking puts so many species at risk.

This is outrageous. Think of the trauma the little Gorilla suffered. I doubt he was stolen from his mother. She would never have let him be taken.
When baby animals are taken, the mother is usually killed first.
They can probably bring him back to health, but then what will happen to him. Can he be returned to the wild. Could he possibly survive as a gorilla in the wild.
What was done to the little Gorilla was horrible, but it is just the beginning. He has his whole life ahead of him and he has lost the chance to live it as he was born to be. It will always be a sadness and a loss.
