Perry the donkey was born in New York City in 1994. He is a miniature donkey and a real character. When they made the first Shrek movie in 2001 Perry modeled for the animators when they created the donkey character. Those who know Perry could see him in the animated character. His mannerisms and the way he moved really come through in the animation. Perry was paid $75.00 for his work.

I never knew there was a real donkey behind the character. That makes him even more special. We all loved the donkey. Thirty years is a good life for a donkey.
His memory will live on forever. Considering the movies were so successful and still make money, I think they should be making some donations in Perry's name to some kind of donkey rescue or group that works to improve the life of donkeys. It would honour his memory and it would be the right thing to do.
