With all the fires and homes destroyed, California shelters need to take in local pets who have been evacuated.
The solution is to send the adoptable animals in the shelters to other locations. Wings of Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society have partnered with Humane Society of North Texas to fly adoptable pets from California to Texas. This frees up space in the California shelters for the many displaced pets they will need to take in.

I think it is beautiful how various animal groups support each other in times of crisis. It wasn't that long ago that they were moving animals out of Texas because of Hurricane Harvey. When everyone works together we can do so much more.
At least the California pets will feel at home with the warm Texas weather.
I always feel for the dogs that come from Texas to Canada. Their first winter here must be quite a shock.
Hopefully all those pets being moved will find homes very soon.
Good news, they are already finding homes.

At least some good is coming from the disaster.
