Squirrel shuts down the Lion King
#1
A squirrel in Toronto made contact with a transformer and shut down the power in the down town core. This happened right before a performance of the Lion King.
The performance was cancelled. Sadly the squirrel didn't make it.
In 2023 squirrels caused 80 power outages, Birds caused 30 outages and Racoons caused 13 outages.
That is a lot of incidents. They do need to make the power system more animal proof.

Since animals do not survive causing power outages, there need to be more safe guards to prevent animals from contacting powerlines.
One or two incidents is an accident, but over 100 incidents is a system wide problem.
I know they are working on it, but animals are waking up so they need to move quicker with their repairs.
