It seems like a water fountain for your pet is a bit of a luxury. Maybe not. The fountain keeps the water clean and fresh and it cools it.
Definitely it is better than a bowl that sits out all day.
Also, many pets prefer running water.

I know cats that insist on a water fountain. I can see why. Moving water seems fresher. It actually is fresher. Water that sits tastes stale after a while.
If your pet is happy with a water dish that is fine, but if your pet is always looking to drink from a tap, maybe it is time for a fountain.
Some of them are really pretty.
