Dollerama sells bird seed bells. You hang them outside and the birds peck away at them. Some pieces of the bell can fall on the ground.
This happened to a BC woman and her dog ate some of the pieces and became quite ill. The overnight vet stay came to $3400.00.
She is seeking damages from Dollerama because they didn't warm her about the danger to her dog.
She didn't win because Dollerama didn't manufacture the seed bell. They sold it already packaged, so it wasn't their responsibility.

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-woman...-bird-seed

That is complicated. Maybe the manufacturer of the seed bell is responsible and should pay damages.
They could at least label the product better.
Could they have foreseen that a dog might eat some of their product? It wasn't sold for dogs.
Should she have been more careful with her dog? I know dogs love to eat odd things. How much is the owner responsible if the dog eats something that makes it sick.

I think the Vet's bill seems a little high. They only kept the dog overnight and they charged over three thousand dollars.

I guess the lesson here is to not let your dog eat odd things and maybe look for a cheaper vet.

Mom and calf had retreated to the woods by the road. People wanted to help. Finally a driver picked the calf up and carried him across the road
A Billionaire from India is talking about bringing some of the animals to his property in India.
The Billionaire can only take about 80 animals. That is not even half. It doesn't solve the problem.
What would be the impact of these hippos on India's ecology. Colombia's problem started from a private collection of animals.
Could India end up with the same problem?
I don't know what the solution is, but it needs to be one that fixes the problem, not a solution that spreads the problem to other places.

Colombia is having a Hippo crisis. The hippos are the decendents of a drug dealers private zoo. They probably number around 200 animals and they are destroying the ecology of the area. Colombia has talked of culling the Hippos. The situation is desperate.
A Billionaire from India is talking about bringing some of the animals to his property in India.

https://www.npr.org/2026/05/08/nx-s1-581...mbia-india

The Billionaire can only take about 80 animals. That is not even half. It doesn't solve the problem.
What would be the impact of these hippos on India's ecology. Colombia's problem started from a private collection of animals.
Could India end up with the same problem?
This is worrying. The beaver contractd rabies from another animal with rabies. They beed to be searching for that animal and any other animals it camein contact with.
I think if I lived in the area, I would get accinated and I woul get my pets vaccinated. I hope the people who were bitten by the beaver got treatment in time.
