That gives the biologist naming right. She consulted local Indigenous groups and they chose the name Tulishpun, which means cave predator.
Its formal name is Trogloraptor Tulishpun. They had a full naming ceremony for the spiders.
I think it is exciting that they found a new spider. I love the fact that it was named thoughtfully and with ceremony.
That is acknowledging the spider for who it is and how it fits into the ecosystem.
That shows respect for the spider.

Richard and Karen, a Canada Goose couple, have made their nest in a Missouri parking lot for the last 6 years. Then they happily raise a batch of goslings.
This year after 60 days the eggs still hadn't hatched. Karen and Richard were beginning to understand that they were not going to hatch.
They didn't want to give up, but they knew and were starting to grieve. Then another goose couple was hit by a car, leaving two young orphaned goslings.
It was worth a try. The two goslings were presented to Karen and Richard. They took the goslings in as if they were their own.
It took a day, but they walked away from their failed eggs to happily raise their new babies.

That worked out very well. You have experienced parents whose eggs failed. You have babies who were orphaned. Now you have a happy goose family.
Geese are very good about taking in extra goslings. In this case they replaced their eggs with other goslings. Everyone is happy.

A grocery bag was tied up an left outside a shelter door. Guess what was in the bag. I will give you a hint. It wasn't groceries.
Eight kittens! That is what was in the bag. They were two weeks old and being left outside like that was hard on them.
Fortunately the shelter staff and volunteers are dedicated and caring. The kittens are all being raised in foster homes.

The kittens are going to be fine because of the caring people ho found them. That is no thanks to the person who left them.
If they had been outside much longer without care, things might have ended badly.
The message is always the same: DO NOT ABANDON ANIMALS!
They could have been dropped off. The person was at the shelter door.
Even a call to tell the shelter the kittens were there would have been better than nothing.
This time the kittens were lucky.

Sloth World is a tourist attraction in Florida that was to display sloths. They imported a number of sloths. The animals arrived and were left all night in an unheated warehouse. It was still winter and many of the sloths died from the cold. The Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Garden has taken in the survivors.
They are getting the best of care, but sadly some of the sloths have still died.

This should not have happened. How did they get a permit to ship so many sloths. How were they able to bring in animals when their facility wasn't ready for them.
I hope there is a serious investigation. There should be some kind of charges against the owner for leaving the sloths in the cold over night. They couldn't possibly survive that.

Smidgen, a 10 year old Chihuahua, is partly paralyzed. She uses a special wheelchair to get around.
Someone stole her wheelchair off the the veranda. Her person put the story up on social media in hopes of getting the chair back.
The chair isn't back, but someone is fundraising to get Smidgen a new chair.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/atlantic/nova-sco...as-stolen/

It is wonderful that the community has rallied to help Smidgen. She will have a new wheelchair soon.
What I don't understand is the type of person who would steal a dog's wheelchair in the first place.
This story has the worst of humanity and the best of humanity. I hope the best wins.

He definitely saved that moose's life. That fact that he took so long to leave means he was really worn out.
It was lucky timing that the moose was found in time and that the guy had a tow truck which was capable of rescuing a moose.
