Zoo sets up camp site for bears to play with - Catherine - 06-07-2024
Oakland Zoo set up a camp site for its bears. They turned the bears loose on the camp site and they had much fun destroying it.
They really destroyed it. This was part of National Black Bear Day. It was also meant to teach the public about bears and camp sites.
Most bear human interactions involve food left around the camp site.

Years ago we had a bear standing on our picnic table eating out of our cooler. He ate everything and then he ran off with a tin of chocolate chip cookies.
He did have fun while we hid in our car.
It is good to be aware of what bears can do and what attracts them. We probably shouldn't have chosen the table next to the woods.
Knowing what to do when a bear shows up is a good way to keep yourself safe.
Watching a video of bears attacking a camp site is as close as you want to get to a bear.
