A young Right Whale was seen to be tangled in fishing gear. They have been following the whale since June 22. Finally they had a chance to cut the ropes and free the whale. This young whale now has a chance at life.

It is the seventh anniversary of the death of Joe Howlett who was killed freeing a whale from entanglement.
Freeing a whale is a very fitting way to honor his memory. Whales were very important to him. He risked his life to help whales and sadly it did cost him his life. He would want the rescues to go on.
Now another whale can go on and have a full life instead of slowly dying because of fishing gear that we humans have discarded in the ocean.
We put it there. We have an obligation to help animals that are trapped by it.
Well done to all the brave whale rescuers. What you do is so important for our oceans and those who live in them.
