Do Marine animals need wildlife bridges?
#1
Wildlife bridges for land animals are becoming more common. We accept that they are needed and we can see the benefits very quickly.
What about marine life? We create barriers in the oceans. Animals that live in the shallow shoreline waters are unable to go around our structures that reach far out into the ocean. That can cut them off from prime areas and even nesting areas. That makes species survival very difficult in some cases.

I admit I never thought of this. I have never lived near the ocean so I am more aware of land animals.
The people who are building structures on the ocean should be aware. They need to assess the possible effects of structures on animals before they build them.
They should have to create some form of wildlife corridor in any structure they are building along the shore or even further out into the ocean.

That brings to mind the needs of birds. We need to assess how we build and the effect it has on bird migration.
We are not the only ones on the planet, even if we frequently act as if we are.
