Bridget Bardot actress and animal activist just died at the age of 91. She is the first celebrity to react to the Canadian Seal hunt. She raised public awareness of the hunt. Back then they were still killing the fluffy white newborns. They literally clubbed the helpless days old baby seals so people could wear the fluffy white fur.
Bridget made that fact public and the market for the seal pelts dropped. They stopped killing the white newborns.
She wanted to see the hunt stopped completely before she died. She did live to see it decline.
Seal products are banned in Europe. She didn't finish the job, but she got it moving in the right direction.

The Canadian government still subsidizes the hunt, but it is a much smaller hunt.

Perhaps her death will raise awareness again and be the thing that is needed to stop the annual slaughter.
In Bridget Bardot's memory, Canada stop the slaughter.!
