Jacob the lion lost a back leg to a poachers snare and he lost sight in one eye because of an encounter with a water buffalo.
A lion in that condition should not survive, but Jacob has survived. How is that possible?

In order to survive, Jacob has reinvented himself. He no longer hunts like a lion. He has taken up the hunting technique of a panther.
It is working. He is able to feed himself and survive.
Maybe it is not survival of the fittest, but rather survival of the most adaptable.
