White Tailed Eagles returned to England i 2019
#1
White Tailed Eagles have been gone from England for 240 years. Six of the birds were released in 2019.
By 2026 they have produced 9 wild born chicks, including three this year. Chicks hatched this year are children of the children of an original release pair.
They are successfully breeding and have established themselves in the wild.
Since the original release 56 more eagles have been released. These birds are spreading out from the release point and establishing themselves.

This is a rewilding success story. They are not only breeding in the wild. Their children are breeding.
After a 240 year absence it will be interesting to see how they effect their environment. They are meant to be there so their presence now will be good.
They are mostly eating fish. I wonder if the remains of the fish they eat will fertilize the soil in their area.
Restoring a long lost species can have some interesting effects on  the ecosystems in the release point. I am excited to hear the long term benefits.
