Tracking cougars in Alberta
#1
Researchers tracked 80 cougars over a 5 year period. They were tracked using GPS collars.
Of 37 deaths, 29 were killed by people. Cougars living nearer human habitations had a higher mortality rate.
Hunting was the largest cause of death.

The study only covered a small number of animals in a small territory it is not the whole picture. It still looks pretty conclusive that humans, in particular, hunters have
the biggest negative impact on cougars. It makes no  sense to  kill cougars. This is not an animal we eat. It is more likely Trophy hunnting.
What ever the reason, we need to determine how the whole population is effected,  by hunting.
