Iceland has blood farms where pregnant mares are bled so they can produce the hormone PMSG. the hormone is used by pig breeders.
Each mare is forced to give up 5 liters of blood per week. Animal welfare groups have been investigating the farms and revealing their results.
Because of this Switzerland has banned the used of the hormone PMSG.

It is hard to believe that they are still doing things like bleeding pregnant horses for their hormones.
Of course they are abusive to the horses. If you are the kind of people who are keeping the horses to steal their blood, it's unlikely that you are treating the horses well.
Good for Switzerland that they reject any part of this cruel industry. Let's hope other countries follow their example.
