Couple arrested in online animal torture case

A couple in Winnipeg have been torturing and killing animals for online videos. At least 75 animals have been tortured and killed.
They posted their videos on the dark web and required people viewing them to also post animal torture videos.
They have been arrested and denied bail.

It is thought they got the animals free online from sites like Kijiji. The humane society is calling for more regulation of online sites that post available animals.

This is a shocking case. There are clearly a lot of people involved in animal torture on the internet. The couple got away with killing a lot of animals. They had people out there watching their videos. There are more guilty people out there. There is a lot more investigating that needs to be done.

Sadly, the penalties for such crimes are not enough.  The animals have little protection under the law. 
There is little or no protection for animals being given away online. Animal abusers can just keep picking up free animals over and over again and no one is asking what they are doing with the animals.

Hopefully this case will bring about changes in how animals are protected.
