Bear cub wandering in Dec is rescued
#1
Someone driving along a road in northern BC saw a bear cub wandering. At -34C, the little bear was freezing. By now it should have been hibernating.
The Northern Lights Wildlife Society was contacted. The little bear was captured and taken to their facility in Smithers BC.  The cub was under weight and frost bitten. Likely he was orphaned a while ago and didn't put on enough weight to trigger hibernation. The bear will join other rescued animals and if it is doing okay, it will be released in June, the time when a cub would normally leave its mother.

That is one lucky bear cub. There is no way it would have survived. The cold and lack of food would have killed it. Now the cub is safely warm and being cared for.
Because someone stopped and called for help, the little bear has a chance to grow up and live a full life.
