Turtle volunteers needed on Nova Scotia coast
#1
This time of year the water can become cold quickly. Sea turtles can become cold shocked. If people find them in time they can be saved.
In 2016, the Canadian Sea Turtle Network started a rescue initiative after smaller sea turtles started washing ashore. The warming ocean waters were leading the turtles to feed further north. When the cold weather comes, they are in trouble. They wash ashore, cold shocked. Teams of volunteers walk the beaches rescuing cold shocked turtles.

This is beautiful. People walk for miles along beaches looking for turtles in trouble. They have been doing it since 2016 and they will keep doing it whenever the turtles need them. It is dedication like this that is keeping the sea turtles alive. Turtles are having a lot of problems surviving, but many people are willing to help.
It would be worth hours of walking to save even one turtle. They save many.
