Rare whale probably died of head injuries.

A rare Spade Toothed Whale was found washed up on a beach in South Island New Zealand. It is the first intact body that has been found. There have been only 
seven known sightings and none of them were alive. They don't know how the whale died, but there were clear signs of a head injury.

It is sad the whale is dead, but it is a rare chance to learn something about the species.
With head trauma it is possible it was a boat strike that killed the whale. We have that trouble with our whales in the northern hemisphere.

However the whale died, at least he is being respected in death.
