Yes, if you have a cat or dog you should be caring for their teeth. Poor dental health effects your pets over all health. It can make it hard for them to eat properly.
You can brush their teeth. There are many good products to help with that.

We know that human health is effected by dental health. It makes sense that our pet's health would be effected too.
A good over all diet would help, but actual dental care is needed too. Like us, our pets are eating more processed foods.
We need to compensate for that by caring for their teeth. I can understand why brushing the teeth could be hard, but their are good alternatives.
At least giving your pets something healthy to chew would be a start at dental health. It would be sad to have a pet lose their teeth when there are ways of preventing it.
