Britain is serious about rewilding and restoring the land to its healthy natural state. Bringing back beavers is an important step. Beavers can reengineer things to get them working again. The beaver are there, but when they also produce kits, we know restoration is taking place.

All over the world we are seeing projects like this. They are not big, elaborate restoration projects. They are simple local level projects that restore the land one piece at a time. In England they are returning beavers to local areas and letting them do what beavers do. The change is slow and steady, but it is real sustainable change. Over time the beavers will restore the whole country. The sight of a beaver kit is a sign that it is working.
