The third Saturday of February is World Pangolin Day.

Pangolins are one of the most trafficked animals in the world.

It would be nice to say "Let's celebrate the day", but there is not much to celebrate. Pangolins are a gentle creature, that eats lots on insects, which benefits us in our food production. In return we traffic them in large numbers because of some strange idea about their scales have medicinal properties. They do not!
Why can't we circulate the idea that Broccoli has medicinal properties. It is at least good for you and easy to produce. If we don't leave the pangolins alone very soon they will be extinct. It is not just the tragic loss of a species, there is also their loss to the ecosystem. We don't know what kind of an impact that will have.
It won't be good. Let us try and save the pangolins while there is still time.
