Right from the beginning Trixie has been a poor eater. That is why I got the other two. Her litter mates are fine and the other two that I have are fine. Little Trixie is not growing and she seems thinner. I have special foods and vitamins. I have been feeding her, but she is clearly not thriving.
I don't think she is okay. She was tiny when I got her and there may be something wrong with her. Sadly, some baby animals just don't thrive and grow. Trixie may be one of them.

I am sorry about little Trixie. Maybe she won't continue to live. You are right, some animals aren't really 'meant to stay here' and don't thrive and grow as youngsters.
All you can do is what you are doing. You never know....perhaps she will rally yet.

Thank-you Ruth. Little Trixie just seemed to fade away. It was sad to see it happening and realize that she was not going to make it.

I'm so sorry to read that Trixie has gone. She was a lovely wee thing and had such great potential. The life she had was short but very loving and loved.
I think you are right when you say that you must have known and that's why you picked her. We both seem to gravitate towards the creatures that need us, rather than just need a good home, and the two other little ones have just that because of Trixie.
First Tarragon and now Trixie, it's a sad time for you, but we are all here with you.

Thank-you. Your kind words mean a lot.
I never thought about the fact that I wouldn't have gotten the other two beardies if it hadn't been for Trixie. They seemed to encourage her to eat. That is why I brought them home. Because of Trixie I have two delightful little beardies and I will have the fun of raising them.
I think something in me must have known Trixie needed me. It is better that she was with me. If she was going to die young, it was better that she not be a children's pet or the pet of someone who is not used to losses. I rescue damaged pets so I know I will have losses.
This is a hard time of the year. Animals that are fragile often slip away in the dark months of the year. Their metabolisms are low. I just hope I don't lose anyone else.

I do know how hard it is to watch a pet slip away. I've had many losses, too.

Sadly our animal friends have shorter lives than we do. To love and be loved by a pet is to know that they will leave you too soon.

Yes, I try not to think about my current pets leaving me too much but the thoughts do come to mind anyway.
