Thank-you for posting about Yulin.
It is hard to believe that it is another year and we are still protesting Yulin.
I signed the petition. I hope this year there is some progress made against the dog meat festival. We all do what we can, but it is the people who are working there that are able to do the most. I hope they have every success in their efforts.

Thank you very much for starting this thread jFoley85. I always sign anything I can find about the Yulin so-called "Festival". It is one of the worst, if not the very worst things I have ever heard about in my whole life. I hope that it will be banned very soon. All we can do is keep protesting. My heart goes out to those dogs.
Many rescue groups and individuals do what they can to help. But still many dogs are killed and tortured each year.
I signed, of course.
Welcome to the forum. It's good to see someone who cares about stopping Yulin. Blessings.

I think Yulin is something that will come to an end. I may take years of work, but each year more and more people are against it.
The argument that we should let them eat what they want fails when you show someone how barbaric it is and how cruelly the dogs are treated. Yulin makes people uncomfortable and that is a good thing. We just have to keep making people uncomfortable until this is stopped.

Signed the petitions. The sooner that this appalling "festival" is stopped, the better.

It's not just about 'meat eating' and us Westerners being sentimental (because it's about dogs -and cats) or us being hypocritical as we also eat meat.
It's about the unspeakable torture which is unnecessary in a slaughtering process. It's about dealing in stolen dogs (i.e. citizens' stolen 'property'. It's about the torturous and heartless treatment of these animals prior to slaughter. It's about serious health concerns from diseased meat. It is about excuses for profiteering. There probably is a 'mafia' attached to this dog/cat meat trade also.
All those concerns should lead authorities to shut this down!

Some of those things are not what Communism is all about. For those very reasons the Chinese government should step in and stop this. Under Soviet Communism, many writers and musicians were persecuted and even imprisoned. Just for writing words or music!
Surely for capitalist agendas such as the "Yulin Festival" and the knowledge that certain factions (such as mafia etc) are laughing at the ideals of Communism, the government should take a stance.
The torture of dogs is NOT an ancient Chinese 'tradition'. It is a relatively modern idea and a way for meat merchants to make high profits.
Sadly, they are also making high profit from the sale of 'pets' at the Yulin event. That is.....they employ emotional blackmail to no doubt raise the cost of these dogs sky-high for any individual or rescue operation which tries to save their lives.
