Tell us about you're Dog and what makes them unique..??

When I was a young boy about 12 yrs old, I got a puppy from a neighbor who's dog had a litter..I named him Red since he had a reddish tent to his coat.. It wasn't long before he bonded with me in particular and as he grew bigger he would follow me everywhere... He would follow me to school and sure enough at the end of the school day would be there waiting for me..
That's when I realized that animals are so loyal and loving far more than humans... He was very protective over my family... He even got snake bit by a Cooper head protecting me from stepping on him near a pond ... We had Red for about 8 yrs before he died... Im now 60 yrs old and never had a dog who loved me as much as Red...

Welcome to the forum. Red sounds like he was wonderful. He was that special pet who became part of you and you will never forget him. 

I have never had my own dog, but I have been close to other people's dogs. Most dogs love me, but not like Red loved you. I volunteer at an animal shelter so I think there will be a dog that bonds with me. It is only a matter of time. I have had special cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, lizards, and snakes, but I think having a dog is different. I see dogs at the shelter looking at me and I wonder if that is my future dog. So far they have already been chosen by someone else.
