A pair of cougar kittens were seen in Alberta's Bow River Valley on their own. Their mother has been killed and they are not old enough to survive on their own.
They were trapped and are now at the Calgary Zoo where they can be properly cared for. They are not going to be on display and they will only be at the zoo until
a more suitable placement can be found.
Sadly, Alberta allows licensed hunters to kill cougars. The kittens mother was technically a legal kill.

Don't you love how they will fuss over poor little orphaned cougar kittens at the same time as they allow hunters to orphan the kittens in the first place.
Maybe we should be finding other ways to get along with wildlife other than killing them.
What are we doing wrong that there are "too many" cougars.
If we stopped killing their food source we might find we have just the right number of cougars.
I am glad that the kittens could be rescued. I don't know what kind of a future they have, but at least they have a chance.
