Edmonton Children's Hospital hires Pumbaa the service dog

Pumbaa the service dog has become a much needed staff member at the children's hospital. His presence makes life easier for the children being treated at the hospital. He helps them to feel safe and comforted. He is a much needed distraction from the medical treatments the children undergo.

We need more dogs like Pumbaa. Hopefully more children's hospitals will bring in service dogs. Hospital stays will never be easy for children and their families, but the presence of a service dog can really help. I wish we had dogs in a lot more place. A dog in the room changes everything. People can focus on the dog instead of worrying. I wish the subway had service dogs on the trains. Getting to  work would be easier.
