Uber drivers refuse rides to service dogs too often
#1
Uber drivers in Canada are refusing service dogs too often. They drive off and leave a person and their dog just standing there. Even with an app that warns the driver about the dogs doesn't help. Some people have been refused twice in one day. Under Canadian law they must let the dog ride, but they don't.

This happens in Canada and it happens in other countries. All the work they did to get guide dogs accepted seems to be failing.
There are more service dogs now, so they should be more accepted. Instead they are less accepted. It doesn't help that there are fake service dogs out there. People claim an ordinary pet is a service animal so they can take it everywhere. Most of the people getting rejected for a ride have a real service animal. It is pretty obvious when a person is blind and depending on  a dog to get around.
Companies like Uber are going to need to deal with this. They need to train their drivers better and screen the bookings better.
No one who is blind should be left on the side of the road because they need a dog to get around.
