A black bear's den was close to the trail leading to Sunshine Village Ski Resort. Many skiers would be going past the area all winter long.
It was considered too dangerous to leave him. The wildlife people were not in favour of the move. They wanted to close the trail.
The Banff National Park people wanted the move, so the bear was moved.

They did move the bear early enough that he could settle in before winter. The bear as denned in the new location.
I would love to have seen the bear left alone, but the number of skiers made it a high risk situation.
Someone was sure to check out the den and try to look at the bear. It wouldn't have ended well.
We could coexist with wildlife a lot better if people would leave wildlife alone.
At least the bear is okay and is young enough to settle in a ne area.
