Bird netting is used to cover buildings to prevent birds from nesting and sitting on the buildings.
The trouble is that the birds get trapped in the netting and die slowly while they struggle to escape.
Bird netting is legal. However, when a bird gets caught it becomes the responsibility of the person who installed the netting.
Leaving a bird to die slowly could be considered animal cruelty. The nets are supposed to be inspected regularly and trapped birds released.
This does not happen. Buildings can be seen with many dead and dying birds.
Far too many of the birds that are trapped are endangered species. It is illegal to harm such birds.
Supposedly there are safer forms of netting.

Bird netting sounds like a very bad idea. Its whole purpose is not pro-bird.
Maybe if buildings didn't have silly ledges birds wouldn't be attracted to them.
They can put things on the ledges so birds can't land.
Maybe we could be a little more bird tolerant. After all, we build out buildings on their home. They were here first.
Maybe plant a lot more trees so birds have somewhere to go.
Ban the netting and find bird friendly answers to our problems.
