Turtle abandoned at Reptilia
#1
Reptilia is a reptile zoo in Ontario. They have some amazing animals an they know how to care for reptiles of all kinds.
That does not make it a good idea to abandon a reptile in the parking lot. This time it was a Florida Snapping Turtle in a plastic bin.
He is the size of a dinner plate. Leaving the turtle outside like that is very dangerous for the turtle.

It would be even more dangerous to release him. It is a Florida turtle. It can't survive in Canada. earlier this year an Australian turtle was released in an Ontario lake.
He was found in distress. They tried to save him, but he died from the experience.
Abandoning animals for any reason is a bad idea.  This turtle was lucky, he was found in time.
There are places that will take animals. Don't leave them in the parking lot and don't turn them loose.
Sometimes you can't keep an animal, but you can do the right thing and give it to those who can care for it.
