Putting a spider outside is not an act of kindness

Many people react when they see a spider in the house. They will find a way to catch it and put it outside.
They will feel good about putting it outside. Unfortunately the spider does not feel the same. It is in the house because it is some kind of spider adapted to life in our homes. Putting the spider outside can be fatal, most of the time.

If you want to be nice about spiders, learn to live with them in your house. They are not going to hurt you. They even catch house flies.
Think of that spider as working for you, to keep fly pests down. You will never find a better employee. It works all hours, no complaints about overtime,
never takes days off. Next time you see a spider in the house, thank it for its service and let it carry on.

Oh dear...
I put a spider outside this morning after finding it making big webs on my windowsill It was a fairly large spider so had started to take over the window too. Bees were dying in its web as well as all sorts of other things like moths and butterflies as well as flies.

I didn't realise I was being unkind to it. I put it in a hedge at the edge of the orchard. The weather is dry and warm so I thought it would be fine.

I definitely never put spiders outside in the Winter. Then I put them in either of my two wood sheds.

It might be a spider that would do well outside. You certainly put it in a good place.
It is warm enough where you are. You are out in the country so it is not like putting a spider outside in the city.

I know my long legged spiders can't go outside. If I have to relocate them, they can live in the basement or behind some old furniture.

You couldn't leave him killing bees in your window. If the spider was big enough to catch  moths, maybe he needed to be outside.
Let's hope he did okay.
