A man traveling by car from Sicily to Malta was found to have 300 tortoises and 77 parrots. They were not well looked after and many were endangered species..
He is facing animal cruelty charges for the conditions the animals were enduring.

Who knows what would have happened to those animals. Many would not have survived the trip. Sadly there is a real market for endangered species.
Some species have come close to extinction because of the illegal animal trade. It is fortunate for these animals that they were found and rescued.
I don't know where they will end up, but it will be better than being trafficked illegally.
