Fire fighters rescue piglets and later eat them as sausages
#5
Quote:Yes I do. Cognitive dissonance? Is that why they could eat them after rescuing them? Phew!
It does seem like a disconnect. If the pigs were just property to be used then why did they bother to rescue them.
They don't usually carry lamps out of burning buildings.

Quote:Farm owner Canon Gerald Osbourne added: “An inevitable part of farming is the death of an animal which gives us the food to eat.”

What is a canon doing owning a farm and making big profits? He must be getting a church salary - but instead he seems to be spending his time with his big farm (and it is big - see the articles about the fire), making profits and defending the killing of animals. If that is his religion, I can do without it.

I didn't catch the Church of England connection. I probably thought Canon was the man's first name.  It just didn't register with me.
I agree, what is he doing running a for profit farm. Shouldn't he be concerned about prophets, not profits?
I would expect him  to run a farm animal sanctuary.
Being a canon and therefore well educated(I assume) he should be able to see why feeding the rescued piglets to their rescuers is just weird, creepy and somehow not appropriate.

He doesn't have any pastoral sensitivities. I can't imagine what it would be like to have him preach to you on a Sunday.

You sum it up so well Tobi:
Quote:Yuck, Mr Osbourne!

Jesus wouldn't have done that. End of.
