Greyhounds used in Canine Blood Bank

After a life of racing Greyhounds are being used as blood donors for other dogs.

Greyhounds are  the universal blood donors of the dog world. There blood can be used by most other dogs.

The whole idea of dog blood banks sounds so positive and life giving.
However there is going to be a dark side to it.
Not all dogs donors are pets living good lives helping other dogs to live.

It is not wrong for greyhounds to give blood, but it is certainly wrong to house the dogs in squalor and bleed them over and over like that.
We have a situation where it is not what is being done that is the problem. The problem is how it is being done.

Sadly we have found another way to "factory Farm" something.
If we persist in the factory farming model the whole idea of dog blood banks could fail. Lives would be  lost as a result. 
We need to fight the negative methods of  producing blood. Voluntary donations from healthy pets is a much better way to do this. We really need to choose the better way.
