There are greyhound owners who are willing to bring their dogs to give blood on a reasonable schedule. It doesn't hurt the dog's health and they don't mind doing it. Why do we have to turn it into a "factory farming" experience for the dogs. The "farmed" dogs are not pets and they have miserable lives just like they did on the race tracks.
Something good like dogs helping other dogs is being turned into a terrible act of cruelty. They run the dogs into the ground because they don't care if they die. They will just get some new ones. How do we think these things up? Who gets the idea that a good thing could make more money if we make it into a bad thing. It is the money isn't it. Once money is the main motivation things will go badly.
