Yes sadly, that's what it's about.
It's the survival instinct gone crazy. The only animal (insect actually) I can think of who does those kinds of things is the Ant, who 'farms' Aphids. But you can bet your life the methods are not quite as cruel as ones humans could dream up.
I hope something can be done to help those dogs? Is there anything online which we can make a stand and protest about?
I'll take a look tonight when I have more time.
