Turtle Dove flying towards extinction.

The Turtle Dove and other species have declined in number drastically in the UK. Efforts are being made to keep them alive. Some species are responding. The turtle dove however has declined as much as 51%. Efforts aimed at the turtle dove are beneficial, but the numbers are alarmingly low. The whole species could disappear.

For some very endangered species survival is precarious. A little thing that involves loses can be all that is needed to send an animal on the path to extinction. For species like the turtle dove it is going to be close. As long as efforts to save them continue and nothing serious happens, they could still survive. We should never have let any species decline in numbers so badly. Their survival might come down to chance and luck. No species should have to rely on luck to survive.
