The bison are returning to Portugal

It has been thousands of years since their were Bison in Portugal. A small herd has claimed and estate in eastern Portugal. 
These are European Bison. They will prevent wild fires by eating flammable vegetation and allow healthy grasses to grow.
The Bison will also boost biodiversity.

The Bison will benefit Portugal and Portugal will benefit the Bison. Efforts to rewild and restore species to areas, are proving to be beneficial where ever they are happening. Even though it has been thousands of years since the buffalo were there, their presence is very important and we will see positive changes very soon.
