Winner of Ugly dog contest, not a beauty, but much loved

Every year there is an ugly dog contest. This year's winner is a hairless bulldog called Petunia. She was rescued from a backyard breeder/hoarder.
She was a mess. She is healthy now, but not pretty.

The  ugly dog contest is not won on looks. That is the point of the contest. There are lots of beautiful dogs out there. These dogs are loved dogs who are wonderful pets. Instead of looking for a pretty dog as a pet, we should consider a less attractive dog who will still be a wonderful dog. It is not what the dog looks like that makes it the best pet ever. Petunia's person sees her true beauty, the beauty of a wonderful loving dog who is so happy to be with her.
