Japan's fixation with cats

Cats are very important in Japan. So important that they are part of a billion dollar industry referred to as Catnomics. There is cat merchandise, both for the cats and the tourists. Cats appear on everything and everywhere.
There is a cat city that attracts visitors. There are novels with cat heroes. There are novels not about cats that have a cat on the cover.
Cats outnumber dogs and their influence is found everywhere.

Cats have clearly found a culture where they fit right in. Cats have always have impact on our lives, but this time they seem to really have landed on their feet.
Being worshiped in ancient Egypt was fine, but this seems like a much more comfortable life. If we know anything about cats, we know that they love
comfort. I wish them well with this.
