Online pet medical advice can be dangerous

We look up things online all the time now. That can be a good thing. If the advice on how to cook something is wrong, I might mess up one meal.
If the advice on how to treat my pets medical condition is wrong, the consequences can be deadly.
Some human medications can be toxic to our pets. Some treatments can be dangerous.
If a pet is unwell, it would be better to consult a veterinarian.

We need to use good judgement when it comes to online pet medical advice.
First consider the source. What kind of site is it and who is giving the advice.
If there is medication involved, it would be best to consult a vet.
Is the treatment helping or is the animal worse. I know the internet has free advice, but it can come at the cost of your pet's health, or worse.
At least check more than one site and see if they agree. 
If things aren't going well, consult a vet before it is too late.
