Animal cruelty charges for man who stole flamingo

A tourist in Las Vegas got very drunk and stole a flamingo from his habitat. He carried it by the neck to his room in the hotel. The bird was scared and it did get hurt.
 He is being charged with animal cruelty. He claims he was drunk and didn't mean any herm, but Peachy was still harmed.

I am glad he was charged with animal cruelty. Peachy was hurt and traumatized. I was drunk is an excuse, but it does not excuse. He chose to get drunk.
If he is someone who acts iresposubly when drunk, he should have done something to protect the rest of us from his stupidity.
I hope this is a lesson for people who think animal cruelty is a joke.
