That would have been a simple solution: come and take a goldfish home (with a net, not a fishing line, of course, LOL!). Better that than killing them all.
Now why ever not?? "Officials have said no"....How ridiculous. What harm could people do -taking some of them out of the lake? That wouldn't save the majority, but it would be a nicer ending for some at least.
People just love their rules and regulations whether they make sense or not.
