A day at the zoo
#7
Quote:Speaking of the fungus. It's called Chytrid fungus or Chytridiomycosis. I read the other day that researchers in Australia may have come up with a solution using salt. Very early stages of testing, but apparently adding small amounts of salt to the water can reduce the transmission rate and increase survival.

That would be fantastic if they have found a way to deal with the Chytrid fungus. It is a global frog emergency. Frog numbers were already in trouble. The fungus is able to wipe out whole populations. Salt! I hope it works. If it is showing any results then they are at least on the right track.

Congrats to the Australian researchers. If it works they will go down in history as the people who saved the world's frogs.
