Sad outcome for everyone

This is a really sad outcome for everyone involved. Someone looking to adopt a dog from a shelter took it out for a walk. 
Against the rules he took it into an apartment building where a friend lived. The dog attacked and killed their 5 year old Yorkie.
People were bitten trying to save the smaller dog, but they had no success.

Children were bitten, the beloved pet Yorkie is dead and the bigger dog will be held in quarantine for 10 days them he will be killed.
No one wins.

I would think it is asking too much of a dog that you haven't even adopted yet to go to strange places, and meet new people and dogs. I suppose the shelter will have to rethink the idea of letting someone take a dog for a walk like that.
We ask too much of dogs sometimes. Who knows what the dog was thinking with all the strange new things going on around him. This is sad for him because he should be in a happy home now. The little Yorkie should still be the joy of his people's lives.
