Clearly the dog was supposed to die slowly of dehydration all alone in the woods. It was the act of a cruel person. If they wanted the dog to be found they would have tied her along the trail or in a public place.
She is one lucky dog and I am glad she is able to respond to her rescuers.
As you say, so many other stories do not have a happy ending.
I doubt they will find the person who did this, but we can hope that what they did catches up with them. I don't think anyone who would leave a dog tied in the woods has a lot of close friends and family.
