You are right. It is shameful that the chimps were abandoned like that. After all the chimps have been through they deserved a special retirement. Instead they get the best a group of dedicated volunteers can give them. It is enough and it is good, but those who used the chimps have escaped their responsibility.

The failure of labs to provide for the animals they use is enough of a reason to say that using lab animals is wrong. There are many other reasons why it is wrong to use animals, but this one is enough to justify stopping the use of animals.

I hope the chimp colony is able to continue in peace. They deserve that much at least.
