Tattoo's of our pets

Some pet owners are getting tattoos of their pets. Sometimes it is done as a memorial and sometimes they just want a tattoo of the pet.
Some of the tattoos are interesting. Some even look like the pet.

The thought that came to my mind was why. I have seen some beautiful tattoos, but a big image of a pet doesn't seem to be all that attractive. A portrait of the pet on the wall makes more sense to me. Having a drawing or painting done would be more of a reminder.  It is an odd trend. I sure wouldn't do it.
